ABLOY USA introduces traffic enclosure locks

IRVING, Texas—ABLOY USA introduces its 75481 series, new traffic enclosure locks, providing several key access control options using less cylinder and offering greater accountability.

“There are over 500,000 managed traffic intersections in the U.S. That are eligible for an upgrade,” Joe Brown, vertical market manager of transportation for ABLOY USA, said in the announcement. “Currently the marketplace is flooded with a single version that relies on using only one key.” 

The need to secure traffic-critical infrastructure is becoming more complicated due to new traffic cabinet technology and as more intelligent transportation systems find their way to market and are placed near busy roadsides, more state departments of transportation are inclined to find better methods to secure their cabinets. Most cabinets need to be accessed at various times by qualified contractors and agencies for maintenance, repair and upgrade or timing adjustments, further complicating security concerns. 

“Our 75481 series provides the right solution for three distinct applications,” Brown said. “The first is product-specific with less cylinder, such as any Key-In-Know Schlage. There also is the mechanical PROTEC2 and the electromechanically ABLOY CLIQ.”

A one-key option triggers potential red flags with access accountability should a key get lost or stolen.

“Typically, traffic locks are replaced when a latching mechanism fails,” said Brown. “Key control — or lack thereof — is a significant indicator when it is time to replace these locks. We have the ability to provide an exceptional and reliable solution that offers a complete value proposition to the traffic transportation marketplace.” 

There are 12 brass models within the 75481 series. Each left- or right-handed bolt and slam latch are constructed with an attack-resistant design and tamper-proof features to repel forced entry attempts. A built-in dust cover also protects the cylinder opening from grime and moisture.
