MSA Security to host active shooter symposium
NEW YORK—MSA Security, a provider of high consequence threat protection and specialized training for corporate and government clients, is hosting a free symposium to help school officials better understand and address an active shooter threat, according to a statement from the organization.
The symposium will take place Feb. 22 at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. In addition to educational sessions at the symposium, MSA Systems Integration will demonstrate the latest versions of its access control, intrusion detection, and perimeter protection systems.
Anthony J. Schirillo, Connecticut State Police lieutenant and Stratford, Conn., emergency management director, whose personnel were among the first responders to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., during the recent mass shooting, will speak about his experience managing unpredictable events.
In addition, Dr. Michael Chumer, emergency management and homeland security expert, and renowned security consultant Patrick Fiel will also discuss trends in school safety due to the increase in active shooter incidents across the United States.
