WASHINGTON, D.C.--Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez presented ADT with the 2007 Crime Victims' Rights Week Award for its AWARE (Abused Women's Active Reponse Emergency) program, the company announced on April 24.
The AWARE program, which is credited with helping to save 31 lives since 1992, collaborates with local law enforcement and social services agencies. ADT provides qualified women, free of charge, a monitored ADT home security system and an emergency necklace pendant that sends a silent alarm to ADT's customer monitoring center when activated. The program is active in 177 U.S. communities and its sister program DVERS is in 41 locations in Canada. This award was specifically for ADT's work in West Virginia where a resident was rescued from her abuser through the AWARE program.
