American Fibertek moves to larger HQ

SOMERSET, N.J.-American Fibertek recently relocated to a new facility here to meet the company's current needs and provide room for future growth. "Our compounded growth has been in excess of 15 percent" over the past few years, said Jack Fernandes, president and chief executive officer of American Fibertek, a manufacturer of fiber optic communication systems for video, voice and data. Fernandes expects that growth trend to continue as demand for fiber optic related products and services increases. In response to that, the company moved into a facility 100 percent larger than its previous location. It houses all of the company's operations, including sales, engineering, parts inventory and technical service. Along with gaining larger headquarters, the company added an in-house training facility. "We used external facilities prior to that," said Fernandes. Now, American Fibertek will offer training to reps and customers, besides just dealers, on a quarterly basis. American Fibertek also increased its engineering and sales staff by hiring three additional employees. The company intends to bring its international sales team in-house in the first quarter of next year.
