Back to New York: ISC East returns with regional focus

Leaving New York’s never easy. But that is why ISC East has returned to the city that never sleeps. And the show’s producer says it’s back for good. After the show’s poor attendance last year in Washington, Reed Exhibitions, the organizer of the event, is bringing the show back to New York permanently as well as trying to solidify its status as a must-attend regional event. The normally three-day event has been reduced to two-days this year, but hours have been extended. The show will be open Wednesday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration will open at 8 a.m. on both days. Reed Exhibitions announced in early October that attendee interest in the show is at an all-time high and approximately 10,000 dealers, systems integrators and end users have pre-registered for the event- an increase from the 3,965 pre-registered attendees for last year’s show. According to pre-registration information from Reed Exhibitions, the largest ratio of end users are coming from the retail, local and federal government, educational, commercial and residential real estate and manufacturing sectors. ISC East will kick off with a keynote presentation by the highest-ranking firefighter to survive the World Trade Center disaster of Sept. 11, 2001. Chief Richard Picciotto will speak on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 8:30 a.m. at the River North Pavilion at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Picciotto’s presentation will be based on his book, “Last Man Down: A Fireman’s Story.” New to the agenda this year are a variety of manufacturer’s training programs- where dealers and integrators have the opportunity to receive company and product specific training directly from the certain exhibitors. Dealers can attend the one-hour training sessions taught by experts selected by the manufacturers free of charge. Companies taking part include Honeywell, Linear, HAI, DSC Fire-Lite and Samsung. Training will take place on both days of the show- held Nov. 3 and 4 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center- and some sessions will offer continuing education credits for participants. A full conference and more than 400 exhibitors round out the event.
