IRVINE, Calif.--Looking to keep false alarms at bay, Criticom International implemented enhanced call verification in June.
The contract monitoring firm instituted a policy that requires operators to attempt to confirm a burglary alarm before notifying the authorities. First, the central station will place a call to the location of the alarm; if that fails to determine the nature of the alarm, a second call will be made to the alarm customer's cell phone.
Criticom, a division of Integrated Alarm Services Group, operates centrals in California, Minnesota and New Jersey.
