EPS Security acquires competitor

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—EPS Security, a national systems integrator based here, recently acquired Comstock Park, Mich.-based competitor, Video-Tech-Tronics (VTT), adding 1,500 new business and residential customers to the company. The acquisition includes business operations only; it did not include VTT's facilities located at 859 West River Center Drive in Comstock Park.

The newly acquired VTT customers will strengthen EPS Security's customer base to more than 28,300, cementing EPS Security as one of the largest family-owned commercial and residential security providers in Michigan, EPS said in the deal's announcement.

“Chris Johnson and his outstanding team at VTT are wonderful additions to EPS Security and we are proud to welcome them,” Kevin Carlson, president of EPS Security, said in the press release. “VTT has an excellent reputation with their customers and within the community. I could not be more excited about this partnership!”

VTT will add 13 new employees to the EPS Security team; nine of which are highly skilled security system technicians. The added staff allows EPS to be more responsive and efficient for its new and existing customers throughout the state of Michigan.

“VTT's growth over the past 24 years has been predominantly internal, stemming from the referrals of our client base,” Chris Johnson, president of VTT, said in a prepared statement. “We decided to seek this acquisition by a larger company as it will allow us to provide a wider array of high-tech services and products to our customers. It will also offer more opportunity to our employees as they continue their careers.”

In the near future, EPS will begin moving VTT customers subscribed to 24/7 monitoring services to EPS Security's owned and operated monitoring center in Grand Rapids, Mich., which is UL listed, FM-approved TMA Five Diamond certified.
