Golf tourney to raise funds for research

LAS VEGAS - The Alarm Industry Research & Educational Foundation and the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association have announced their inaugural joint fundraising events, to be held in conjunction with the 2004 NBFAA Spring Conference in Las Vegas. The AIREF/NBFAA Golf Tournament is scheduled for March 30, the day before the start of the ISC West Expo, and will be held at the Revere Golf Club in Henderson, Nev. There will also be an evening fundraiser at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino’s Kahunaville, which will feature the presentation of the Morris F. Weinstock Award and the Sara Jackson Award. The two events will replace the formal NBFAA/AIREF awards dinner that had been held in years past. The two events will benefit a number of AIREF research studies, such as: - An executive law enforcement guide to alarm response management, to be conducted with the Police Executive Research Forum, that will identify feasible alternatives for local governments and law enforcement agencies. - A study on crime displacement in communities featuring a high percentage of alarm systems. - A market penetration study that will provide an analysis of the electronic life safety, security and systems industry’s market penetration, including a statistical breakdown of alarm system purchasers.
