The heat is on for Miami Co.

MIAMI--In response to a booming housing market and in turn a growing security company, Global Security Products relocated to a larger facility in southern Miami that enables it to keep up with its influx in business. The new, 3,000-square-foot facility provides room for additional technicians and more warehouse space. The systems integrator currently employs 12 people, up from eight employees last year. Nearly half of the facility, 1,200 square feet, is devoted to the warehouse. For Global Security Products, the new location also could not come at a better time. Owner Steven Schwartz said construction in Miami, especially in the high-rise and condominium market where the company garners much of its business, keeps the company busy. The early May move will help facilitate growth for the four-year-old company, but it was not the only reason the systems integrator relocated, Schwartz said. "The traffic in Miami is so bad and it takes so long to get to work," said Schwartz. "It was taking time away from customers." The company is now located within a closer proximity to Schwartz's home, and that of some of its employees. Additionally, the location will be closer to the clients the company targets, which Schwartz expects to have a positive impact on annual revenues. This year, revenues should exceed the company's current $2 million mark. And it appears Global Security Products is on its way to reach that goal. Schwartz said the firm is in the midst of signing a contract for a high-end condominium project on Miami Beach. The project would include the access control and surveillance systems, as well as structured cabling.
