Home Director partners with N.C. developer

MORRISVILLE, N.C.-Home Director Inc. has teamed up with a Houston-based master-planned community developer to integrate structured wiring in 4,000 homes over the next two-and-a-half years. The partnership with Land Tejas is not the first between the two companies. Home Director and Land Tejas first worked together in 1998 when Land Tejas become one of the first companies to deliver Home Director's product to homeowners. "Our original 1998 partnership with Land Tejas was a key starting point for both companies and our joint commitment to deliver the best technology to homeowners," said Don Witmer, president and chief executive officer of Home Director. Under the agreement, Land Tejas will install Home Director's Network Connection Center in the second phase of development of its four Canyon Gate communities and the new Canyon Village communities. The infrastructure allows homeowners to choose a range of technologies, such as home security, home controls, whole-house music systems, video entertainment, computer networks and shared Internet service. "Technology has been a key competitive edge for Land Tejas and Home Director has helped us deliver technology that homeowners are demanding," said Al Brende, a principal of Land Tejas. Overall, Home Director is working with more than 270 builders and developers nationwide. Home Director spun off from IBM to become an independent company in January of 2000, two years after first being created.
