New location, employees key

CHANTILLY, Va. - Dedicated Micros made two major moves this spring, opening up a branch in Los Angeles and relocating its U.S. operations to a larger facility here. The additions come at an important time for the multiplexer and digital recording company as it looks to continue to gain additional market share in the competitive U.S. security market. “W see this as a time now that if we’re going to continue to expand and grow we need to make some investments,” said Don Taylor, vice president of marketing at Dedicated Micros. One of those investments included its new office here, a facility twice the size of its previous location, located only 10 minutes away from Washington Dulles International Airport, which is key for Dedicated Micros’ U.S. shipping hub. The additional space also afforded the company room to triple its call center capacity and create a larger product repair center. Jennifer Walsack, executive vice president at Dedicated Micros, noted that additional staff has been added to the company’s back room operations to help distribute product. Future plans call for the company to provide more adaptive engineering services to its products and add the likes of remote capabilities to enable customers to better manage information on the systems. In recent months, more sales people have joined Dedicated Micros in North America, including the company’s first salesperson based in Canada. Plans call for the additional sales people to focus on the systems integration market, while the company will also step up its sales efforts to distributors and the national account market. Over the next year, Dedicated Micros intends to expand its number of U.S. employees by 20 percent. Company officials declined to release how many people the privately held company currently employs. Dedicated Micros’ Los Angeles area office in Torrence, Calif., will serve as its training center. It will also provide technical support and customer service from that location.
