We sent a newspoll to our Security Systems News Newswire subscribers asking them what they think about Tyco's plan to purchase DSC. Here's the question we asked, how people responded and comments some of you made. Question: What type of an impact do you think Tyco's planned purchase of security product manufacturer DSC will have on the security industry if approved by federal regulators? 51% - Very Significant 39% - Significant 7% - No impact 3% - No opinion   "Frankly, I'm very concerned about the future of the industry I started with in 1962. Too much power is being acquired by too few major players that are able to spell out the direction we are going to be led. How soon will it be before we are dictated to and shut down with this potential power? Yes ... it scares the crap out of me." Robert L. Nitterhouse President/Owner NAC Divisions Chambersburg, Pa.   "Tyco seems to be buying up industry players faster than anyone can figure out what it will mean. Clearly, they intend to consolidate like operations, but to what extent? And even more important, will Tyco ultimately use their vertical market strength to give their own dealerships an advantage on product pricing and support? So far, Tyco has not caused my small dealership any real pain. But if they force companies like DSC to favor their own dealers, it could spell a whole new world for the industry during the next five to 10 years." Beau Wadsworth President Telesystems Inc. Knoxville, Tenn.
