NFPA elects new board members

QUINCY, Mass.-Four new members were elected to the NFPA Board of Directors to serve three-year terms. The new board members are Luther Fincher, chief of the Charlotte, N.C. Fire Department and a past president of the International Association of Fire Chiefs; Douglas Forsman, chief of the Union Colony Fire Rescue Authority in Greeley, Colo. and director of Fire Protection Publications; Todd Gritch, director of code services at HKS Quality Control Group, one of the largest U.S. architectural firms and Steve Muncy, president of the American Fire Sprinkler Association since 1991. Firetector changes name SYOSSET, N.Y.-Firetector Inc. announced in late May that it would change its name to Synergx Systems Inc. to better reflect its diversified technological operations. The company, which designs, manufactures, markets and services a variety of data communication products and systems with applications in the fire alarm, life safety, security and communication industries, is also looking for other investments and channels of distribution in and out of the communication sectors. The change was subject to approval of the company's stockholders. Monitronics hosts fire alarm seminar DALLAS-Monitronics in May hosted a day-long fire alarm seminar for local representatives from local fire municipalities that featured presentations from Underwriters Laboratories and Carmel, Calif.-based Carmel Fire Protection Associates. Tom Presnak from UL presented information on UL's fire alarm certification programs, while Art Black from Carmel Fire explained the code and standard requirements for fire alarm systems. Members of the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Department of Public Safety and the United States Secret Service, and fire chiefs, fire marshals, and fire inspectors attended.
