Northeastern University avoids fire

BOSTON-A fire system installed by Northeast Fire Systems helped to avoid a disaster when a student at Northeastern University left a kettle unattended and caused a fire. According to Peter Rizzi, Northeastern University's Fire Safety Officer, the fire was contained and extinguished before the fire department arrived on the scene. The system that notified campus officials about the fire was from Notifier, said James Yantosca Sr. of Northeast Fire Systems. The University uses the Noti-Fire-Net campuswide life safety system, which centralizes alarm reporting, he said.
