Optex purchases Security Enclosures Ltd.

LOS ANGELES-Optex Europe has bought outdoor detection sensor company Security Enclosures Ltd., a deal that further propels Optex's plans to integrate its sensors in the CCTV market. Security Enclosures, based in Surrey, England, is known for its CCTV housings, its Redwall range of medium and long-range PIR detectors and the Redwatch detector camera combination. Optex, on the other hand, specializes in indoor sensors and short-range outdoor sensors. "It broadens our applications and increases our stance in the market," according to Courtney Harris, marketing coordinator for Optex, based here. Besides expanding Optex's outdoor protection line, it also enables the company's sensors to be used to activate outdoor CCTV cameras, said Rob Blair, president of Optex Inc. The purchase price for Security Enclosures was not released. Harris said Optex will carry Security Enclosure's pro-duct line. He did not have a timeframe for when the line will become available because some product training remains for the com-pany's employees. Optex is a subsidiary of Optex Co. of Japan.
