Security Networks seals SDI deal

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--Security Networks, based here, and Atlanta-based distributor SDI announced a strategic alliance in September that they expect will bring more dealers their way. Under the agreement, announced Sept. 12, authorized Security Networks Dealer Affiliates will get a discount on any product offered by SDI. What's different about this program, said Gary Franklyn, vice president of business development for Security Networks, is that "We don't lock up the dealer to a particular control panel, for example, they can use any control panel out there," Franklyn said. "We wanted to be able to offer dealers another incentive to come on board with us and SDI is able to support dealers on nationwide basis," he said. Franklyn has been working to build Security Networks' dealer program for several months since he joined the company in March. Eight dealers joined the program between March and September and "a bunch are in the due diligence process now," he said. Becky Busby, vice president of sales operations and part owner of SDI, said the partnership "is very good for SDI." "[Security Networks' dealers] don't have a limit on what kind of equipment they can use. Most dealers have a set partnership with certain manufacturers. This will give the dealer the flexibility to use what they want to use," she said. SDI carries wholesale security products including cameras, access control devices, fire equipment and home audio products. "We're looking forward to working with them," Busby said.
