SIA seeks nominations for 2018 George R. Lippert award High honor recognizes service and leadership in the security industry

SILVER SPRING, Md.—The Security Industry Association is now seeking nominations for the 2018 George R. Lippert Memorial Award, an honor presented annually to a distinguished individual for long-term, selfless service to the security industry and to SIA. The Lippert Award will be presented during SIA Honors Night on Wednesday, Nov. 14, in New York City. Nominations for 2018's award are being accepted through Friday, Aug. 24.

“The security industry is stronger because of the vision, dedication and drive of Lippert Award winners,” Don Erickson, SIA's CEO, said in the announcement. “Each year, the number of nominations has increased dramatically, reflecting the enthusiasm and respect our members have for this very special recognition. We look forward to recognizing a SIA member who has made a profound impact on our industry at Honors Night 2018.”

The Lippert Award is named in honor of George R. Lippert, who dedicated more than 20 years of his life to SIA and the security industry. He purchased the company Cameras for Industry in 1967 and served in leadership positions with Morse Security Group Aritech and Linear Corp. He was a valued contributor to SIA, serving on SIA's Board of Directors for 17 years. Recipients of the award are individuals who exhibit Lippert's characteristics of exceptional service to the security industry and SIA. To qualify, a nominee must be:

  • Employed in the security industry for more than 10 years with a manufacturer, integrator, distributor or service provider
  • Affiliated with a SIA member company in good standing
  • Respected as a leader in SIA and the industry
  • Viewed as a goodwill ambassador for SIA and the industry
  • Recognized as honest, responsible, courteous and kind

SIA Honors Night—held each year concurrent with ISC East—features a gala dinner reception, an awards ceremony recognizing industry leaders and entertainment. Along with the Lippert Award, SIA will also honor industry leaders with the Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award, the SIA Insightful Practitioner Award, the inaugural Progress Award sponsored by the Women in Security Forum and the Women in Biometrics Award co-presented by SIA and SecureIDNews.
