T&B makes push into security

T&B makes push into security Brief

CORRECTION: We regret this story from our October 2005 issue contained inaccuracies. Thomas & Betts is not realigning its corporate structure or reconfiguring its sales force or customer service support team. The company is offering several of its existing product lines, including its patented Snap-N-Seal(R) compression connectors, Ty-Rap(R) cable ties, and Steel City(R) pre-painted fire alarm electrical boxes, to the security market. T&B is supporting this effort through its existing operational structure and through security distribution channels. The full T&B sales force across the U.S. is backed up by a national Customer Service Center and an Internet-based information system called T&B Access (www.tnb.com). MEMPHIS, Tenn.--Thomas & Betts Corp. announced in August that the company will realign its corporate structure and add a security division to capture a part of this market. T&B designs and manufactures electrical connectors and components used in industrial, commercial, communications and utility markets. The company said it would reconfigure its sales force and customer service support team to support this effort. Founded in 1898, T&B is responsible for inventing compression connectors, also known as disposal plastic ties. Last year, the publicly held company reported worldwide sales of $1.5 billion. Existing business segments within the company are electrical, steel and HVAC.
