NEW YORK - Tyco Fire & Security, a division of Tyco International that designs, manufacturers, installs and services electronic security systems, fire protection, detection and suppression systems, has rolled out the Ansul Sapphire Fire Suppression Systems for use in areas that house items such as artifacts and electronic equipment and other valuable objects.

The Ansul Sapphire System includes a water-like chemical that quickly evaporates and is based on 3M Novec 1230 Fire Protection Fluid. Tyco has designed the product for use in various areas including hospitals, libraries, museums and telecommunications centers because it will not damage infrastructure and is cleared once discharged.

The Ansul product line features an array of products, such as fire extinguishers and hand line units, pre-engineered restaurant, vehicle and industrial systems, and fire detection and suppression systems. The Ansul Sapphire product works with existing fire systems as well as new fire system installations.

The new product is now available in the U.S. and was previously available in Europe, a spokesperson for the company said.
