Ultra Elec. opens new production area

WEYMOUTH, England - Due to a sustained growth in sales, Ultra Electronic Card Systems invested in a new production facility for its Magicard ID card printers in February. Built as a mezzanine floor here, the 4,000-square-foot facility cost more than $500,000 to construct. In addition to the new production floor, the company also added a third PCB production line. The facility, where both new departments are located, employs more than 200 people and is comprised of 65,000 square feet. Ray Coles, managing director of Ultra Card Systems, said 2004 was a “fantastic year” for the company in a written statement and mentioned that sales of both printers and consumables hit record levels in recent months. He also said the new production area “is not just about more space and capacity, but also means the introduction of new techniques such as lean manufacturing and new quality systems.”
