Vidsys founder James Chong named CEO Information management, IoT markets are next frontiers for PSIM provider

VIENNA, Va.—The new CEO of VidSys is not new to the company. James Chong, who on Jan. 26 was named CEO of the PSIM provider, founded VidSys in 2005 and has also served as CTO.

Chong replaced Michael P. Jackson who had served as CEO since 2013.

In his new role as CEO, Chong said he plans to “help accelerate our strategic growth as well as product innovation and direction.”

VidSys sees “the opportunity to enter other markets we may not have played in as aggressively before.” Specifically, Vidsys is looking to “catapult” into the IoT and information management markets.

“Over the past year we have been developing more strategic alliances with partners,” Chong said, notably with HP where VidSys is “leveraging big data analytics and social media [combined with physical security and information management].”

The first large deployment of this solution is at a large transportation project in New Zealand.

Chong declined to reveal revenue figures but said the company is growing and that it's seeing more demand for and adoption of its PSIM products. “In enterprise and in the federal government space [for example] the RFPs and RFQs have increased over the past 12 months,” he said.

Chong said customers are no longer asking, “What is PSIM?” but instead “How can we implement PSIM for our environment?”

VidSys' PSIM "collects, correlates and converts vast amounts of data into meaningful and actionable information, based on the organization's risk policy, standards and compliance requirements," according to the company.

Using mobile and web-based technology, "the software can be rapidly deployed and provides real-time situational awareness and information management capabilities to remote users and first responders."
