Yale provides a smart lock solution for Amazon Key

BERLIN, Conn.—Yale Locks & Hardware recently teamed up with Amazon on a new service exclusively for Prime members called Amazon Key, which enables in-home delivery and secure home access for guests and service appointments.

“We're thrilled to be a part of this new innovation from Amazon,” Jason Williams, president, ASSA ABLOY U.S. Residential Group, which includes Yale Residential, said in the announcement. “Yale's years of expertise in security and smart lock technology and the new Amazon Key service will give Prime members peace of mind and provide a new level of convenience.”

To get started with Amazon Key, Prime members need to first purchase and install the Amazon Key In-Home Kit, which consists of a choice of compatible smart locks, including the Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen (YRD226-AZ) and the Amazon Cloud Cam, an intelligent indoor security camera. Using the Amazon Key app, members can also grant secure access for in-home Amazon deliveries, receive notifications when deliveries are made, watch the delivery happening live or review a video of the delivery after it is complete.

The Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen, a keyed electronic deadbolt, provides multiple options for locking and unlocking, making it ideal for busy households. In addition to operating via the Amazon Key app, the deadbolt can be unlocked by entering a PIN code via the backlit touchscreen keypad or with one of the included physical keys.

The Yale Assure Lock features a sleek, transitional design that enhances a home's curb appeal. Other features include:

·      A durable capacitive touchscreen with backlit numbers that won't fade with use

·      Weather resistant gasket that seals out moisture to protect both the lock and the door

·      Quiet motor with tapered deadbolt that accommodates for misaligned doors

·      Simple installation on standard doors 1-3/4-inch to 2-1/4-inch thick

·      Auto lock option

·      Privacy button that locks out all PIN codes

·      One-touch locking

·      Easy set up thanks to voice-guided instructions in three languages

·      Lifetime limited warranty on finish and mechanical components; one-year on electronics

The Amazon Key In-Home Kit is available for pre-order and begins shipping on Nov. 8.

Yale is part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, a global door opening solutions provider.
