TAVARES, Fla.-A jury in Lake Circuit Court ruled in February that a Tampa alarm company is partially responsible for flaws in security that led to a death of a teller and the paralysis of another during a 1999 bank robbery in Mount Dora.

Midwest city investigating licensure

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa-City officials here are considering instituting a licensure requirement for alarm companies that's included in a fire code before the City Council.

The consideration comes amid a growing number of false alarms, about 60 every month, or 43 percent of all fire calls, according to city fire officials.
