NEW YORK - With the backing of its global security products manufacturer parent, an interactive video firm has tapped a veteran of the video industry to lead it into new markets.

Smart Interactive Systems, a subsidiary of Israel-based Magal Group, earlier this year hired Bill Elliot as the company’s senior vice president for business development.

ACM completes computer upgrade

PHOENIX - A nearly $300,000 investment in new computers for central station dispatch personnel and supervisory staff at ACM UL Monitoring Station, a contract central station based here, was completed last month, nearly two years after the company finished a remodel of the central station that added additional space.

The project, which saw the installation of two Intel Pentium III hot swap redundant computers, also improved the speed of Net Link, ACM’s dealer web access and the service’s associated software.

New central to expand with remodel project

DALLAS - A three-year-old central station that sprung out of necessity is now embarking on its first expansion project at its headquarters here to give more room to its growing operations.

Centralink, owned by the principals of two Dallas-based security installation companies here, is set sometime next month to begin expanding its central station to add a training room and a conference room - additions that will add another 2,000 square feet and more than double the size of its monitoring center.

CANASA objects to additional tariff
MARKHAM, Ontario - The Canadian Alarm and Security Association has filed comments with the Canadian Radio Television and Telecommunications Commission to object to Bell Canada’s proposed bridging charge of $10 per customer per month. The Canadian telecom is proposing the charge to the Schedule 3A Interexchange Multipoint Data Service, also called DVACS.
