Protectron consolidates Ottawa centrals

OTTAWA - National security firm Protectron has wrapped up a major move of its central station to a larger facility here, giving the company an opportunity to upgrade its technology and more breathing room to expand.

With the purchase of the Canadian division of Protection One last July, Protectron found itself with two central stations in the same city, the former Protection One monitoring facility and the central station that houses Security 24, Protectron’s contract monitoring arm, said Daniel Demers, president of Protectron.

ARC moves into custom digs

EUCLID, Ohio - A two-year-old monitoring company here has moved into its new location, more than a decade after the company’s management team designed and constructed the custom central station for another monitoring company.

American Response Center, formed in late 2001, will move into the building, once home to Security Associates International, in late June or early July, according to Jim Osborne, ARC’s president.

NEW YORK - With the backing of its global security products manufacturer parent, an interactive video firm has tapped a veteran of the video industry to lead it into new markets.

Smart Interactive Systems, a subsidiary of Israel-based Magal Group, earlier this year hired Bill Elliot as the company’s senior vice president for business development.

ACM completes computer upgrade

PHOENIX - A nearly $300,000 investment in new computers for central station dispatch personnel and supervisory staff at ACM UL Monitoring Station, a contract central station based here, was completed last month, nearly two years after the company finished a remodel of the central station that added additional space.

The project, which saw the installation of two Intel Pentium III hot swap redundant computers, also improved the speed of Net Link, ACM’s dealer web access and the service’s associated software.
