Integrator, guard company sees up-tick in business due to Hurricane

HOUSTON--While Hurricane Katrina put a dent in business for some security companies in the Gulf Coast, Safeguard Security Holdings is reaping the benefits.

CLOVIS, Calif.--Pelco won a contract to deploy its video security system at the San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino.
The gaming company, which is located in the San Bernardino Mountain region, will use Pelco's Endura system to manage more than 3,000 cameras in a 100,000-square-foot area.
Endura, introduced at the 2005 ISC West trade show, is a network-based surveillance product that can operate on a local area network and IT infrastructure.

QUINCY, Mass.--The National Fire Protection Association appointed Nancy McNabb as its new director of government affairs, based in Washington, D.C.
McNabb previously worked at the association's Dallas office as building code regional manager. She reports to the NFPA's vice president for government affairs John Biechman.

Former Tyco President gets jail time

NEW YORK--Former Tyco President Dennis Kozlowski's five month trial ended on Sept. 19 with a sentence of eight- to 25 years in prison, a $70 million fine and joint restitution for Kozlowski and his chief deputy Michael Swartz of $134 million.
Kozlowski and Swartz have been remanded and are in jail. They have asked the appellate court for bail while they await the results of an appeal.
