PEMBROKE, Bermuda--Tyco International has named George Oliver as new president of Tyco Safety Products, effective July 10, replacing Ron Krisanda, who will now lead Tyco Fire & Security's operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Oliver, based in Boca Raton, Fla., will report directly to Tyco International chairman and chief executive officer Ed Breen.
In a written statement, Breen said his appointment "is consistent with our objective to create a more agile, focused organizational structure as we move closer to the separation of Tyco into three independent publicly traded companies." That move is currently slated for Oct. 1, according to Tyco Fire & Security's senior director of marketing and communications Renae Leary.
Oliver comes to Tyco from General Electric, where he served as president and chief executive officer of GE Water and Process Technologies, a $2 billion business with more than 7,000 employees. He was also previously president and chief executive officer of GE Engine Services, a $5 billion business.
Tyco International, which currently has four business segments--Electronics, Fire and Security, Healthcare, and Engineered Products & Services--reported 2005 revenue of $40 billion.
