Per Mar acquires Olson Security

DAVENPORT, Iowa--As of Oct. 1, Per Mar Security Services will assume the accounts and assets of Olson Security, a relatively small operation serving Maquoketa, Iowa. Owned by husband and wife Buddy and Myrna Olson, the company brings Per Mar roughly 240 commercial accounts and 160 residential accounts. Terms of the deal were not announced.

LaSalle Bank claims fraud by INS Integrated Security Solutions

CHICAGO--LaSalle Bank, which operates roughly 150 branches here in the Chicago area, has sued its recently fired security director and security system integrator, claiming a conspiracy to defraud the bank of as much as $42 million.

SAN DIEGO--Security news was being made at another conference happening here in San Diego. At DEMOfall '06, a show designed to showcase innovative technologies, uControl announced a new home-security service that provides redundant connectivity by enhancing existing security systems.
Using existing keypads, controllers and sensors, uControl's product communicates to its UL-listed monitoring station via broadband, cellular and phone lines, and allows home owners to operate their systems remotely....
CSAA issues legislative alert

WASHINGTON--CSAA is asking industry members to contact their senators regarding HR 4954, the Port Security Bill. Now that it seems unlikely the Telecom Reform Bill, HR 5252, will pass in the Senate, CSAA thinks 4954 is the best vehicle for a "Consumer VoIP Notification" provision, which would require VoIP providers to notify customers that their alarm systems could be affected by a switch from traditional landline phones to VoIP.

AIREF survey pans verified response

IRVING, Texas-A survey of 515 registered voters in Salt Lake City, commissioned by the Alarm Industry Research and Educational Foundation, gave a thumbs down to verified response in that city, which instituted the policy in December 2005.
The survey results, released on Sept. 18, showed that only 20 percent of registered voters surveyed knew about the alarm ordinance, according to an AIREF press release, and 65 percent of respondents disapprove of verified response.

National Guardian buys second central station

NORWALK Conn.-National Guardian Security Systems on Sept. 20 announced that it acquired a second UL-listed monitoring station, Professional Security Monitoring of New York.
The deal was inked on September 1; terms of the contract are not being released.
National Guardian, which offers electronic security services to multi-location businesses throughout North America, will now have full redundancy for their existing station in Richardson, Texas, said president George Flagg.

YARMOUTH, Maine-An informal poll of integrators large and small has revealed that ASIS may indeed be all it's cracked up to be. Integrators reported the show is their best opportunity for creating leads in a short amount of time, with nearly half of them expecting to generate business at the show.
