BOCA RATON, Fla. - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has chosen ADT to play a major role in a pilot project to design and develop security solutions for cargo containers entering three major ports across the country.
The project is called Operation Safe Commerce and will test new and proven technologies at the ports of Los Angeles/ Long Beach, New York / New Jersey and Tacoma/ Seattle.
The financial details for ADT’s participation in the project were not released.
ADT plans to provide the government with video surveillance, access control, radio frequency identification and intrusion detection systems.
Other team members include The Boeing Co., which will develop the network to integrate information with existing and future networks; Global Marine Security Systems Co., a global maritime solutions company; Iridium Satellite, a service provider of global wireless satellite communications and Parson Corp., a company that manages facilities, engineering and construction for large-scale facilities.
