SAN DIEGO—Users can now add range-booster antennas to Helios surveillance systems, MicroPower Technologies has announced. With the antenna, the outdoor surveillance cameras can send video as far as two miles.
The range-booster antenna increases signal sensitivity 16 times, extending the distance between the hub and hub antenna as much as 200 feet and allowing the hub antenna to be placed farther from the hub platform with minimal loss of signal, according to the release. With the new antenna, data transmission is more streamlined and secure, the company said.
“Today's surveillance user expects systems to be scalable and flexible to address the changing security environment, where protection must be mobile, cost-effective and secure,” said Dave Tynan, VP of marketing and business development, in a prepared statement. “The range-booster antenna is another tool to meet the evolving and dynamic needs of our customers.”
The range-booster antenna is a replacement for the Helios camera's directional antenna, but also relies on a 1.2-square-foot solar panel, according to the release.
Helios is a wireless video security system that does not need cabling for power or data transmission.
