VANCOUVER, British Columbia—Avigilon, video surveillance, access control and security solution provider, in February announced the launch of the “Early Adopter Plan” for the Avigilon patent license program. The plan offers preferred license rates and terms to companies that enter into a patent license agreement with Avigilon prior to April 30, 2016.

"The Early Adopter Plan further enhances the value of joining the license program," Chris Capuano, Avigilon's VP of licensing said in a statement. "The license program makes fundamental patents available to industry participants, providing them with greater freedom to operate. We encourage all interested companies to join the license program by taking advantage of the Early Adopter Plan."

Among other things, patents available under the license program cover the following key technologies and processes: video analytics, automated license plate recognition (ALPR); access control; and firmware upgrading.
