LUND, Sweden—Axis Communications won a Wall Street Journal award for innovation in the Physical Security category for its Lightfinder technology, which makes it possible for digital cameras to capture detailed images at night.
With Lightfinder technology, images are in full color and require no additional lighting. “I felt they put together a few different ideas to put more intelligence into how the camera works,” William Webb, chief technology officer of Neul Ltd. and an Innovation Awards judge, said in the report. “That did stand out for me.
The new digital cameras from Axis combine video chips designed by Axis, light sensitive sensors, and software that makes images clearer. They began equipping their cameras with Lightfinder technology late last year.
