AUSTIN, Texas—Exposure management provider Brinqa has acquired offensive security and reporting platform PlexTrac, a move the company says will allow customers to better validate remediation efforts and create a more comprehensive continuous threat exposure management (CTEM) offering.
The acquisition combines two companies recognized in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Exposure Assessment Platforms and expands Brinqa's capabilities beyond exposure identification and prioritization to include verification that remediation efforts have been successful.
"We've spent over a decade building the platform enterprise security teams trust to prioritize what to fix first," said Dan Pagel, CEO of Brinqa. "PlexTrac brings real offensive security depth, from practitioners who have spent years proving exactly how attackers get in. Pairing that expertise with our exposure assessment platform gives customers proof they can defend to a board, an auditor or any AI system acting on that data."
Brinqa said the combined company now serves more than 3,000 customers across 57 countries, including more than a quarter of Fortune 500 companies. The acquisition also positions Brinqa as the largest standalone vendor in the unified exposure management market, according to the company.
Brinqa said customer demand for remediation validation was a key driver behind the acquisition. The company noted that while vulnerabilities are often marked as resolved in ticketing systems, organizations increasingly want proof through retesting that exposures have actually been eliminated.
As part of the transaction, PlexTrac founder and Chief Customer Brand Officer Dan DeCloss will join Brinqa's executive leadership team and board of directors, where he will lead the combined company's offensive security practice.
"PlexTrac was built by offensive security practitioners, for offensive security practitioners, and that's not changing," DeCloss said. "Joining Brinqa gives our team a bigger platform to prove that hands-on offensive security expertise still matters, even as more of this work gets automated."
Brinqa said PlexTrac's products will continue to operate as standalone offerings, giving existing customers the option to maintain their current deployments while gaining access to Brinqa's broader platform capabilities over time.
Covington & Burling served as legal advisor to Brinqa in the transaction. Financial terms were not disclosed.
