NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The NBFAA honored two of its outstanding members at the annual Weinstock and Jackson awards ceremony held at the Country Music Hall of Fame here on June 24 at the ESX show.
Stewart Jackson, former owner of Jackson Burglar Alarm, presented the Sara Jackson award, which is in honor of his mother's work and dedication to the NFBAA, to Frank Burke, of USA Alarm Systems. "This award recognizes an active member of the industry who has demonstrated outstanding leadership," said Jackson. Burke accepted the award saying the honor was a "total shock," as was the appearance of his son, who surprised Burke during the ceremony.
The Morris Weinstock award, which was first presented in 1970 in honor of the co-founder of the NFBAA, was awarded to Scot Colby of Bayou Security and president of the Louisiana BFAA. Colby said he was very honored to join the prestigious group of past recipients. Colby was surprised by his mother, who joined the ceremony to honor him.
The ceremony was moderated by outgoing NBFAA president George Gunning, who noted that this was the last ceremony he will preside over as president of the association.
