MISSISSAGUA, Ontario—Chubb Edwards will become the exclusive provider of the Edwards EST fire and life safety product line and the Edwards signaling product range throughout Canada as of Jan. 1.
The deal expands Chubb Edwards' distribution and services into Atlantic Canada, eastern and northern Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia's southern interior and Vancouver Islands. It allows distributors, general contractors, electrical contractors and customers across the country to work with a single source for solutions ranging from system design through ongoing service.
The company previously worked with strategic partners for sales and delivery in those areas, according to Carmine Bozzo, VP of fire product and market strategy.
“We expect that this direct channel will greatly improve our ability to deliver value to customers through the entire life cycle of their life safety requirement,” Bozzo said in an email interview with Security Systems News.
Now Chubb Edwards will be able “to employ a more independent method of serving … customers across Canada,” he said.
The move fits with the company's growth plan in that each of the 27 sales and services offices in its network will become complete fire and life safety systems providers, he said.
Customers come from across the verticals, including financial institutions, government, education health care, transportation retail and residential.
In 2015, the company is looking to grow its customer relationships and beef up its customer service in the areas where it previously sold through partners, Bozzo said.
“We'll have an enhanced ability to provide service excellence across the full spectrum of our customers' requirements,” he said.
“We are now extremely well positioned to deliver real value to existing and prospective customers,” he added.
Chubb Edwards provides total solutions for fire, security, climate and lifestyle requirements that address system design, installation, service, monitoring and continuing customer care. Its focus is integration, allowing all components of a system to operate as one, including intrusion detection, access control, video surveillance, fire systems, nurse call and communications.
It is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp., a provider to the aerospace and building systems industries worldwide.
