CivicPlus, Nextdoor ‘increase neighborhood resilience’

MANHATTAN, Kan. — CivicPlus, a provider of integrated software solutions for local governments, has integrated with Nextdoor, a neighborhood-focused social media platform.  

Using the combined platform, which brings together CivicPlus' Mass Notification System with Nextdoor's hyper-local messaging capabilities, local agencies can improve response rates, mitigate the impact emergencies have on communities, foster greater trust with residents, and strengthen public safety and well-being, CivicPlus says. 

“During critical events, the timely distribution of accurate and verified information is key,” said Cari Tate, solutions director at CivicPlus. “With this type of integration, which enables a city to automatically post in an additional, hyper-local channel, more residents have access to essential info and can respond to the required action quicker.”    

CivicPlus notes that key features of the integration include streamlined communication, increased reach, geographically-targeted messaging and automated posting. 

The integration also has an upside for residential users, CivicPlus says. 

“A local government official can efficiently send a message from one platform that is automatically shared across social media networks, in tandem with communication via traditional channels of email, text messaging and voice calls,” Tate said. “This increases the number of residents that can be reached in a quick amount of time and improves the community’s ability to respond.” 

For Nextdoor, the integration with CivicPlus meets a shared goal of “increasing neighborhood resilience.”
