SANTA CLARA, Calif. — A new partnership means mutual customers will be able to leverage high-quality backup data from Cohesity-protected workloads from within Glean’s platform, further expanding enterprise knowledge and AI-driven insights.

Gregory Statton, vice president of AI Solutions at Cohesity, says the integration will enhance an organization's ability to extract value from its data assets.

“Data is the lifeblood of AI and enterprises have virtual stockpiles of this precious resource,” he said. “By combining their Cohesity-protected data with the Glean Work AI platform, they can draw on that resource, again and again, to improve decision making and gain insights. The Glean AI-powered search algorithms will be tightly integrated with Cohesity, so users can instantly query data, even petabyte-scale volumes of data, across multiple sources and time periods. The integration will open a wide range of practical uses, from security incident response and compliance, to uncovering insights individual employees can use to work smarter.”

Cohesity counts more than 13,600 enterprises as customers, including 85 of the Fortune 50 and nearly 70% of the Global 500.

Statton says synchronizing Cohesity’s access control and compliance mechanism with Glean’s access control framework ensures consistent enforcement of security and governance policies. Search results will respect all data governance policies and organizations can additionally enforce compliance for data retrieval, including data retrieval across backup states, to maintain adherence with regulatory requirements like GDPR and CCPA.

“Organizations struggle to manage and extract value from vast, diverse and distributed data sources,” said Dr. Craig Martell, chief AI officer, Cohesity, in a press release. “Cohesity is breaking down the silos, helping them manage and secure data, wherever it lives, and providing new ways to use that data.”

Statton says the integration also minimizes performance impacts on production applications and reduces the need for additional data management tools.

“By running search queries against backup copies of production application data, production applications can remain in use, operating as needed with no impact on their performance,” he said. “The combined Cohesity and Glean architectures also reduces the need for additional data management tools because the system can scale to meet the demands of both current and archived data.”

The integration of Cohesity-protected data into the Glean platform is expected to be available for customers later this year.
