Everon focusing on customer delivery, app development, says interim CEO Tim Whall

LAS VEGAS—After completing its first full year as a standalone company, Everon is focusing on two customer initiatives in the coming months – a solid delivery process and the development of an app, says Tim Whall, chairman of the board and interim CEO.

At ISC West, Whall summarized Everon’s progress since being acquired by private equity firm GTCR for an estimated $1.6 billion in October 2023 and subsequent rebranding from ADT Commercial.

Everon“Anytime you have to do a carve-out, there's a lot of moving parts to that, right? You’ve got to establish your company - all the stuff you take for granted when you're part of the mothership is you've got to go create it and invent it,” he explained. “The staff did an incredible amount of work to get it separate as a standalone company, and (now) they’ve got to get out in the market and win business and keep customers satisfied.”

Now a separate entity, Everon is focused on establishing itself as a premier national integrator and service provider of commercial security, fire and life safety. To him, the key to success has always been about “simplicity and just keeping right down the middle,” with a consistent delivery platform.

“You go to a McDonald's, you get the same Big Mac at 3,000 locations, but how do you deliver that kind of a service or delivery mechanism with a consistency across the platform? How do you put policy practice systems and tools in place that allow you to have that consistency?” he explained. “At these shows, we're mainly dealing with centralized decision-makers that are looking for consistent delivery. How do you deliver at a consistent level to keep these buyers happy? So, I always start with that.”

Another key focus in the coming months is developing an Everon app for the commercial customer, Whall said.

“On the commercial side, there's really no one app that can allow you to do a fire test and inspection versus what you have with your multi panel versus your remote video health check system versus your arm and disarm,” he noted. “From whatever service you're buying from me, from whatever vendor product I'm selling you, I want the customer to be able to have that ease of experience with it.”

Overall, Whall noted that even though there were some non-business-related issues that came up during Everon’s first year as a standalone entity, he “can't speak enough” about how much effort people put in to make it a reality.

“It's a lot of work coming out and becoming a separate entity, but now we're in a great spot to be Everon as a standalone,” he said. “We don't have to rely on our parent anymore for anything; we’re a fully standalone entity. I feel good about the team and the path we’ve taken.”
