Five Questions: Jared Roberts

Jared Roberts was hired by Gallaher as its Alcoa sales manager in November 2017. He is now responsible for helping to focus and train the sales team at the company's Alcoa, Tenn., headquarters. Security Systems News caught up with Roberts in early April to ask him five questions.

Are you married, do you have kids?

I am married. I'm married to my wife Jessica—about five and a half years now—and we have a little one, Emma Claire. She is 17 months old.

Do you have any pets?

I do. We have two cats and a dog currently—but, that could grow at any minute. … [They are] humane society rescues.

Where are you from originally?

Originally, I was born and raised in Louisiana. I grew up in the New Orleans area, so I spent about 16-17 years down there. Then I moved to Sevier County, like the Gatlinburg, Tenn., area, which is a pretty big tourist destination. I lived there for about five years and then moved to Knoxville, and then from there I went to the Boston area, New Hampshire, back to Knoxville, then to Birmingham, then to Greenville, S.C., and now back to Knoxville again.

What do you like most about where you live now?

I think this area—East Tennessee—is a perfect combination of a cost of living with plenty of amenities in the area. It's beautiful with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so there are plenty of mountains and forest and trails. … It's also a nice little growing city that has a developing downtown area.

What are some of your hobbies or other interests?

Well, we just completed building a house. So, my hobbies have been somewhat focused around that piece. Outside of that, I'm a pretty large sports fan. … Being from New Orleans, I'm a New Orleans Saints fan—lifelong fan—and also a Tottenham Hotspur Premier League soccer fan.
