Huron Capital's Sciens Building Solutions acquires again

Huron Capital's Sciens Building Solutions acquires again Sabah International now third company added to ExecFactor Platform

DETROIT—Huron Capital, an operationally focused private equity firm based here, on July 20 announced its fire detection and security services ExecFactor platform, Sciens Building Solutions, has acquired Pleasanton, Calif.-based Sabah International Inc.

“We think Sabah is a great addition to the Sciens platform,” Terry Heath, Sciens CEO, said in the announcement. “Sabah gives us a meaningful presence on the West Coast, with an impressive customer list and a strong reputation in the market.”

This is the third acquisition for Sciens, which Huron Capital formed in September 2016 in partnership with Heath to pursue a buy-and-build investment strategy in the fire detection and security services sector. Sciens purchased W.W. Gay Fire & Integrated Systems in March.

"With three companies now under the Sciens umbrella and offices on both coasts, Sciens is becoming a significant player in the fire detection and security services arena,” Jim Mahoney, partner at Huron Capital, noted in the announcement.  “With Terry Heath's leadership, we will continue to look for acquisition opportunities as we seek to further expand this ExecFactor platform.”

Founded in 1972, Sabah works with its clients to design, install, service, and maintain fire detection and suppression systems, as well as leak detection and integrated security systems. The company primarily serves the technology, healthcare, financial services, education, government, and commercial end markets. According to the press release, Sabah CEO Michele Sabah will be working closely with the Sciens Board, while Sabah president Matt Ramsey will continue in his current role of developing and growing the business.

“I am very proud of the company we have built over the years and we could not have done it without our great employees,” said Sabah in the announcement. “We chose to partner with Sciens because of our shared values and this exciting buy-and-build strategy, which we believe will allow our employees to further develop in their careers while remaining firmly focused on the satisfaction of customers.”

"With our ethos focused on people, quality and customer service, we think we have built an amazing company,” Ramsey added. “We believe being part of Sciens will further reinforce our core beliefs and mission, plus provide new opportunities to Sabah employees."
