WASHINGTON, D.C. — The International Biometrics + Identity Association (IBIA) announced that Michael Bruce, vice president and division manager for homeland solutions at Leidos, has been appointed to its Board of Directors.
Bruce reportedly brings over 20 years of business leadership and growth strategy experience spanning the public and private sector. In his current role, he leads a team that delivers digital modernization, secure mission software, and operational efficiency solutions to U.S. federal agencies including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA). He served for five years as a federal executive with DHS/TSA and as a senior executive with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), overseeing enterprise-level human resources, financial, and agency systems.
“We are thrilled that Michael Bruce is joining our Board and representing Leidos. We are excited about the various ways that his extensive expertise can play a role as we represent the biometrics and identity industry,” said Rob Tappan, IBIA’s Managing Director. “His two decades of experience inside both the government as well as the private sector and working on these complex issues will be a true asset to our work, our board, and to our Members. In that same vein, we would also like to take this opportunity to thank John Mears, Leidos vice president and tech fellow, for his fifteen years of service to IBIA, the last five of which he served as Board Chair.”
“The work that IBIA does is critical to educating policymakers and the public at large about the expanding role of the information and biometrics industry in our modern world,” said Bruce. “Whether it’s helping travelers get through the airport faster and with less frustration or helping consumers use their face or fingerprint as their password, biometrics and identity are prevalent in most Americans’ day-to-day lives. I’m excited to continue my advocacy for this dynamic industry.”
In August IBIA announced that Neville Pattinson, head of business development and strategic marketing of Thales Group’s Digital Identity & Security Biometric Solutions Division, was elected as Chair of IBIA’s Board of Directors for a two-year term. Earlier this month, IBIA also announced the addition of Hitachi Digital Services’ Intesh Singh to its Board.
