ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—An international research firm headquartered here has acquired IMS Research, provider of research and analysis within the security realm, for approximately $46 million.
IHS Inc., which employs 5,500 people worldwide compared with IMS' 140 employees, currently provides information and analysis in the energy, economics, geopolitical risk, sustainability and supply-chain management sectors, according to its website. The IMS acquisition will increase its coverage of the electronics, media, telecommunications and security areas.
An IMS market analyst told Security Director News, sister publication of Security Systems News, that the acquisition will not affect the company's security research division.
IMS Research was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in Wellingborough, U.K.
