New ICT CEO gets ‘engine going’

CENTENNIAL, Colo.—New Integrated Control Technology (ICT) CEO Andy Bane loves to create “a-ha” moments for customers, something he hopes to accomplish with key investments.

“We're making heavy investments in R&D and products to strengthen the core hardware and software platform to deliver more integrated value and meet those evolving needs that customers have,” he explained. “I think that's how we're going to get the engine going - through greater awareness and an uplevel product experience that meets not only modern capabilities but can also be positioned as future-proofing for those who choose to invest in working with us.”

Integrated Control Technology (ICT)Bane, named CEO of the access control and security solutions provider in early February, noted that working with former long-time CEO and now Chief Innovation Officer Hayden Burr will take ICT to the next level in terms of helping partners and customers secure their success.

“He led the company for 20 years and he did it on the basis of innovating product and technology and building this high customer touchpoint organization,” Bane said of Burr. “Given the future needs of the industry and where we want to take our solution set, giving him more time to think about future needs and what we need to do over a three-year window is super important.”

Bane added that Burr’s role will not be just about product innovation. It will also be about evolution as a company to better meet the needs of ICT’s partners and customers.

“Having him anchored into the business and getting to collaborate with him not only helps my learning curve but also gives us a huge advantage on some of those deeper challenges that we have as a business to get to the next level,” Bane said.

Bane cited the opportunity to work with a “great team” as one of the key factors in joining ICT following his eight years as CEO at Element, an enterprise SaaS industrial data management provider.

“The team at ICT is this group of super-dedicated, resourceful problem solvers with a really friendly Kiwi culture,” he said of the Auckland, New Zealand-based company. “And there’s just this hunger to win and do more than what we’re doing in the larger markets, particularly in the U.S.”

Another factor was ICT’s “strong customer base,” as Bane described it, noting the approach that the company has taken to partner with customers to “help them really achieve more on a unified solution basis,” which combines hardware and software across access control and intrusion detection.

Finally, Bane pointed out ICT’s solution set, a purpose-built, unified offering backed by a team that has “deep subject matter and industry expertise and is in a position to invest in upleveling that overall solution, making it more capable and more integrated, which is really important for the next growth leg in the company,” he stated.

Looking ahead, Bane sees ICT evolving into what he calls “an acknowledged global player” helping customers solve some of the biggest challenges around access control and intrusion detection.

“We have to do that with innovation, not just at the product level, but at the level of how we co-innovate with our customers to meet their needs,” he concluded. “It's a tall order, but I think we can get there.”
