Next-gen products, services steal show at VerkadaOne

DENVER—During its second annual customer conference, Verkada unveiled its next generation of cloud-based physical security solutions to a room full of people from security experts to installers on the front lines of access control.

VerkadaOne welcomed guests to Denver over three days to connect and learn about new solutions that the company says are empowering physical security leaders to be more proactive and efficient than ever.

“I think it’s safe to say at this point that Verkada is the leader in cloud software technology in the physical security industry,” Verkada CEO Filip Kaliszan told the audience during his keynote address.

Despite a full program of education and promotional content, the real stars of the show were Verkada’s new line up of products and services, which included its AI-powered Alerts feature. Building on the company's AI-powered Search feature, AI-powered Alerts enable customers to create and receive alerts based on natural language queries. Verkada noted that its AI search feature makes use of a Vision Language Model (VLM) that consists of a library of more than 2 billion publicly available images.

While Kaliszan noted public hesitation surrounding AI, he pointed to features like device unlock and airport security screenings as examples of the technology making life more convenient.

“I am very excited about how AI is becoming more prevalent in those everyday use cases, because I think that allows us to bring AI to more of the products that we’re building,” he said.

Verkada also introduced next-generation hardware across its camera, intercom and access control product lines:

  • The company’s newest generation of fisheye (CF83-E) and 4K PTZ cameras (CP63-E) designed with larger image sensors and advanced optical lenses will deliver its sharpest images yet and will be able to power even more cutting-edge analytics with the latest Ambarella CV7x line of processors.

  • A new mini split camera (CM42-S) is designed for locations where space is tight or discretion is required (i.e. an ATM or discreet location within a retail store).

  • Three new Intercom models – a compact form-factor (TD33), thinner form-factor (TD53), and form-factor with a built-in keypad (TD63) – all offer enhanced audio and video quality, as well as a built-in state-of-the-art door reader.

  • Alongside its next-generation door reader (AD34) featuring improvements in credential scan performance, LED feedback and BLE hands-free unlock powered by time-of-flight technology, the company announced its first door reader with a keypad (AD64). In addition to featuring all the capabilities of the AD34, the AD64 enables organizations to grant access with a simple PIN code or to enforce multi-factor authentication.

Verkada says customers will have access to these new software features and functionalities on Oct. 3, 2024, with hardware ship dates varying by device.
