Nortek Security & Control launches doorbell camera

CARLSBAD, Calif.—Nortek Security & Control LLC, a supplier in the security and home control markets, launched its new GoControl Smart Doorbell Camera recently, part of its continued push to support security dealers with the latest technology.

Designed as a complete solution, the GoControl Smart Doorbell Camera "is a great addition to any existing home security system or start of one," according to the company, allowing the homeowner to see and talk to anyone at their door from anywhere using their smartphone.

“Providing our customers with a doorbell solution that provides a superior audio experience was very important during the development of the GoControl Doorbell Camera,” Anu Herranen, product marketing director for Nortek Security & Control, told Security Systems News in an email. “Also, given this type of solution is traditionally installed outside the home, the ability to withstand the elements was paramount. To ensure the connected doorbell camera was just as effective at night as it is during the day, we integrated for powerful IR LEDS that provide superior night vision.”

The new GoControl Smart Doorbell Camera is a Wi-Fi enabled video doorbell with two-way audio that is equipped with a 720p HD camera and a 180-degree wide-angle lens, which captures video even when mounted off to the side of the door. To provide homeowners with a superior audio experience, this connected video doorbell decouples audio/video information and uses low latency SIP technology for near real-time two-way audio performance.

To provide protection from the elements, the GoControl Smart Doorbell Camera is IP65 weather rated with hermetically sealed wire connections to eliminate service calls due to dust, rain, sleet and snow. Four powerful IR LEDS provide superior night vision for high-quality video up to 15 feet away even in low-light applications.

Once installed, homeowners can receive notifications from the device on their iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, and also access their doorbell camera video feed on demand from their app, record video directly to their phone or take a snapshot. The companion “MyDoorbell” app can support up to two doorbells and up to four user accounts so the whole family can monitor who is at the front or back door at any time.
