PATASKALA, Ohio—Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a central Ohio man who was killed after going to a rental property to check on a possible break-in, according to multiple news reports.
Upon being alerted by his alarm company of a break-in at 7 a.m., property-owner Tom Miller rushed over to the storage barn.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that Miller's wife, Orfelina Miller, heard three gunshots almost immediately afterward and later learned from police that her husband was dead. The report says a pickup truck was backed up to the side of the barn Sunday afternoon and Tom Miller's vehicle appeared to have rammed or blocked it.
Police in Pataskala, a suburb of Columbus, have not commented on the shooting.
