Security and access control expert pens book on school security

APPLE VALLEY, Minn.—Dave Jabas, a specialist in electrified security hardware that ties into card access and fire alarms, has written an e-book exploring ways to improve school security, according to a press release.

The book, entitled “We Can Protect Our Children: The Guide to Securing Our Schools and Daycare,” examines ways in which schools can upgrade existing locks and add security hardware to reduce the likelihood of school violence.

Jabas, founder and owner of Wholesale Locks, based here, hopes school administrators and parents use the book, available on Amazon.com, to evaluate existing locks, hardware and security devices at their schools

Jabas said in a prepared statement, “The correct locks will significantly slow an intruder or discourage the attacker altogether. In situations such as these, giving teachers, administrators, and emergency responders extra time generally equates to saving lives.”

Jabas said that in a dangerous situation in a school, “the big challenge is to change the status of each vulnerable door from unlocked to locked as quickly as possible.”
