YARMOUTH, Maine—Have you heard enough about cybersecurity dangers for physical security integrators and manufacturers?
Here's a new, and perhaps more welcome, angle of the cybersecurity story.

Guest Commentary: Technology trends in paradise
March 28, 2016Andrew Lanning
HONOLULU—A group of 100 technology folks brought some serious security thought-leadership on topics such as identity management, cybersecurity, privacy and big data during the Hawaii Information Communication & Technology Association's (HICTA's) “Trends in Technology” trade show, which took place in Honolulu in March.Of course, it's reasonable that smart people like to travel to Hawaii, too, but what really struck me was how relevant both physical security and cybersecurity have...

“It's a really simple way to increase the security of the solutions you're putting out there,” Lanning said. Configuring 802.1x will not prevent every breach, but it's an important part of a “layered defense,”...

IST just finished moving its headquarters to a new facility that they own, (and...

HONOLULU—At the suggestion of a new operations manager, Integrated Security Technologies decided to install a new customer service portal in 2010. As a result, the company doubled its service revenue in one year.“It's great. Customers love it,” explained Christine Lanning, president of IST, which is a member of PSA Security. “They can go online and enter their problem, and they're notified about when a tech will show up, what actions were taken, and when we resolved the issue.”IST...
