Town puts LPRs in fake cacti

PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz.—This town took a new approach to concealing cameras: putting license plate readers in fake cacti.
The cameras were installed to spot stolen vehicles and vehicles involved in Amber Alerts, according to a Fox 10 Arizona report citing town manager Kevin Burke. “They're not meant to be secret, just aesthetically pleasing,” the report said.
According to Burke in the report, the town is examining privacy concerns before the cameras' activations.
