WASHINGTON—With immigration reform gaining momentum in Congress, the Security Industry Association is calling on lawmakers to approve biometrics on identity cards to ensure the highest level of security at U.S. entry points.
A hearing on S. 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act, was scheduled this week in the Senate. If the bill passes it would then go to the House, where the debate over immigration reform has been more fractious.

WASHINGTON—Legislation to provide $40 million a year to improve security in the nation's schools has bipartisan support, but it was dealt a blow after the Senate rejected an amendment to which it was linked: expanded background checks on gun purchases.

ARLINGTON, Va.—Accenture Federal Services, a consulting and technology services company, received a five-year contract from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration to create identity management and credentialing system processes for those working at secure areas throughout the TSA system, according to a company statement.
