ADS Security expands North Carolina market with latest acquisition

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—ADS Security, a super-regional headquartered here, has acquired customer accounts from Central Carolina Security of Sanford, N.C., and will retain the Sanford location, marking the 20th branch for ADS.

The purchase adds approximately 3,000 accounts to the ADS North Carolina customer base, which also includes accounts in Washington and North Carolina. Central Carolina Security's monitoring center will continue to run while ADS transitions accounts to its monitoring center.

“The owner, Nelson McDonald, is a friend and a wonderful guy, and I knew from getting to know him the kind of company it was and how good a fit it would be with ADS,” John Cerasuolo, ADS Security president/CEO told Security Systems News. “They are very much focused on the customers, and he takes care of his people, and those are really the two foundational things about ADS: taking care of our employees so they can take care of our customers.”

Cerasuolo also pointed out that the company is also a great fit geographically, as the Sanford location is an area where ADS wanted to expand. “We have been very active in the Carolinas, and having an office now just south of Raleigh is a great fit for the three other offices that we have in the Carolinas.”

This is the second acquisition for ADS this year; the company purchased Security and Fire Equipment Co. (SAFECO) of Northport, Ala., in early February. It made four acquisitions in 2015 and five in 2014.

“We are very selective about the companies we acquire, and we are thrilled when we find a company that has been so well run and well managed that we know it will be a very smooth transition into our culture,” said Cerasuolo, who noted that this current pace of acquisitions, combined with organic growth, has contributed to a “fantastic year” for the company.

Central Carolina Security customers will have access to the ADS advanced suite of residential and commercial security and automation services, including mobile management, smart home technologies, video surveillance and access control solutions, and a proprietary UL-listed, CSAA Five Diamond monitoring center located here. Customers are able to manage their accounts online using the My ADS customer portal.
